Kurzfassung :Pulicaria burchardii is a very rare plant species in the European Union, where it is growing only at the peninsula Jandía of Fuerteventura. Because this species is highly threatened, the till now little known population of Fuerteventura has been investigated. The population comprises some 8.000 individuals. The maximum height of the plants is 50 cm, the maximum diameter is 170 cm. Pulicaria burchardii growths on smooth slopes covered with carbonate sand near the sea. The species is associated with other shrubs and subshrubs in communities belonging to the class Pegano-Salsoletea. The vegetation dominated by Pulicaria burchardii is documented by plant sociological relevés.
