The paper deals for the very first time with the spontaneous flora of a tramway in Germany. The narrow-gauged tramway system of Braunschweig is fully independent from the railway network of the German Railway (DB). 225 species have been found on its tracks. Within less than 30 years a subamount of the 711 species found on the intra-urban railway area established themselves on the tramway tracks although there is no connection between them.
